“I learned how to use my voice and be myself.”
“I learned a lot about the courage of women.”
“I found new ways to make healthy choices about my body.”
“I have been going to GSGV for 4 years, and every year I grow a little more. From barely being able to talk the first year I arrived, to socializing with everyone around me, even when outside the camp, is a big leap. I never tire of yoga, self-defense, or dancing. Every year is new and fresh and exciting. Being a teenager is hard, being a girl can be even harder, but having a place that teaches you how to accept yourself makes things easier. I never knew the kind of strength I have inside me, but now that I’ve discovered it, it has helped me grow as a person.
I am so thankful to this program, not only does it help local Wisconsin girls, but it also helps girls in Africa, who aren’t as fortunate as us, and gives us a chance to connect with them. From the art projects to the games, I will always love Girls’ Stories Girls’ Voices.”
